The Company aims to provide the global market with responsibly mined manganese ore that can be used as a replacement for cobalt in lithium-ion batteries for use in the EV sector. This is viewed as a step towards reduction of greenhouse gas emissions associated with the use of non-renewable energy in vehicles, and the consequential adverse effects on climate change.
Keras intends to conduct its activities in an environmentally sustainable manner, with the aim of ensuring that its operations do not have adverse effects on natural resources or biodiversity in the region.
The Nayega manganese mine and Diamond Creek phosphate mine have both got very simple processing requirements with no reagents that could have adverse effects on the environment. Nayega uses a simple scrubbing and screening processing plant that only uses water in the scrubber and the Diamond Creek mine produces an organic direct shipping ore that only requires crushing and milling.
Furthermore, the Company is committed to the socio-economic development of its areas of operation. Continued investment in community projects include advancing the supply of clean water at the Nayega Mine to both the community and their livestock adjacent to the 6km water pipeline feeding the scrubber plant.
